SHORTCUT KEY CUSTOMIZATION

Do you like Shortcut Keys, but have trouble remembering which keys apply to which action? Would you rather have the Paste command shortcut be Alt K, because it reminds you of all the paste you ate in kindergarten? Or would you rather the zoom tool be the space bar because that is easier to access? With Flexi, you can assign any shortcut key to any Tool or Command you wish. Flexi's Workspace stores how keyboard shortcuts are defined. Here's how to do it:

The Workspace Editor allows you to customize shortcut keys for Menu Commands and Tools (a button that appears on the toolbar). All default shortcut keys are displayed inside its window. Shortcut keys are based on the currently opened workspace, so you can choose your preferred workspace first, then customize it.

In this example, we are going to assign the shortcut Ctrl Q to the Paste Special Menu Command:

1. From the File menu, point to Workspace and then select Customize.

2. Navigate to the Menu Command or Tool.

• Highlight the Command or Shortcut (in this case, the example command is "Paste Special").

• Press a key combination to assign the new shortcut. Shortcuts can contain a single character or a combination of a character and Shift, Ctrl, or Alt (the example shortcut we entered is "Ctrl+Q").

• Most Ctrl + single-letter shortcuts are taken, so if you assign one a warning will appear asking if you want to remove the existing shortcut from the other command. You can also add multiple shortcut commands to shortcuts that have already been taken. The new and existing shortcuts will remain together.

• Double-click on the shortcut to assign multiple shortcuts to a single command.
• Click Undo to revert to the previous shortcut.
• Click Clear to remove the assigned shortcut.

3. Click OK

You can now start using your new shortcut keys!
